How the verdict works
- Green (≤ 80% of max): comfortable margin for hills, wind and emergencies.
- Amber (80–100%): within factory limits but with little margin — consider weight distribution and slower speeds.
- Red (> 100%): exceeds the rating. Do not tow this combination.
What the calculator does not check
Frontal area limits, state speed limits for towing, brake controller requirements and your specific truck's options (axle ratio, tow package). The verdict is a screening tool — your owner's manual is the final authority.
